CARPENTER'S BARN - Artist Studio

The Artist Studio:
The stables in the 1889 carriage house have been redesigned into a large shared art studio with six work stations. It is designed for artists who want their own dedicated space and want to work around other artists in an arts center. To inquire about the studios

Meet the Artists:

Pilar Figueira

Pilar is a Portuguese artist currently based in Cazenovia, NY. She creates period paintings of scenes that feel strikingly familiar with brush strokes of oil and nostalgia.

Her work explores the process of the reconstruction of memory and identity that takes place as generations emerge and disappear.

By representing common experiences shared in old photographs, her paintings transform old memories into new narratives, creating figurative portraits that are both anonymous in nature but also very personal.

Tara McClung

Tara McClung is an artist and teacher residing in Pompey, NY. She received her BFA in Art Education and Illustration from Syracuse University in 1996 and her MA in Graphics from SUNY Oswego in 2001. Tara works primarily in acrylics and watercolor and is currently experimenting with gouache and oil paint. She paints animals, scenes from nature, and places that evoke memories and emotions. She finds inspiration in the outdoors, in her many gardens, and from the animals that visit the meadows and woods around her home. Tara has been an art teacher in the North Syracuse Central School District since 1997 and has practiced art since childhood.
